Smile Range Hood - Stud in the way of the vent

I want to replace my non- vented hood with a new vented hood for our electric to gas cook top conversion. The hood is 36" wide and there is a stud directly in the middle of the vent location (thorugh the wall to the outside). Going vertical is not a desireable option due to a 2nd story loft. The wall backsplash is tiled behind the existing vent all the way to the cabinets.

The only option I am aware of is to vent out the top with an offset and loose a lot of our cabinet space. Are there any other options for me? Thanks for your input.
