Default Floor around the cabinets or under?

I have to redo a pergo floor probably with tile, colder but harder wearing and the old pergo was around the cabinets. I did have problems of water getting in gaps around the cabinets. That being a problem with a floating floor you have to leave the 1/4 gap but whats the best answer gut the kitchen to do the floor? Experiences please?

Default

In houses I have worked in being faced with the same problem I have always tiled around the units and used timber quadrangle beading to cover any gap left between the tile and units.
