Default Question about joint compound

Hello,
What is the difference between joint compound, spackling and wall putty. I always just buy joint compound to seem drywall and patch holes. Stan

I don't know about wall putty... but joint compound is more complicated than spackling because joint compound has to have tape under, you have to sand it, you have to use the right kind of sandpaper grit ... just to make it look right. Spackling, you can just stick on there, let it dry a couple days, and paint.
