Default Removing candle wax from carpet

Along the lines of the last post, I have another carpet maintenance tip. I have accidentally dropped candle wax on my carpet a few times. It bonds with the carpet fibers.

What you have to do is get something like a grocery paper bag (or anything alike) and iron. Set the paperbag over the carpet area with the wax, heat up the iron to a reasonable temperature, and iron over the bag. The wax will heat up and get soaked up into the paper.

Good tip especially for renters.

Oh, yes, I forgot about the wax on the carpet.
This has happened to me on my throw rugs before. Good thing I had the throw rugs in place.

That's a great tip. I try to be very careful with my candles, but accidents happen to me all the time.

This tip came up at just the right moment for me. Due to high winds Saturday night here we were without power for over 13 hours and I did just this exact thing. I got wax on our living room carpet. I had no clue how I was going to get this up. I will definently be using this tip. Thanks a bunch.

That makes a lot of sense! I never would have thought up something like this on my own in a million years.

I learned this trick from my mother years ago. It's come in handy many times over the years. The latest time, when my son found it necessary to spill the contents of a candle all over our carpets - he's 10 he should know better

First off, thanks so much for the tip! I was actually just talking this over a couple of days ago with a friend as I had accidentally spilled wax on my carpet. She had suggested soaking a rag in very hot water, ring it out and then leave it on the carpet for about a minute and try to pick it out. Your way is just so much easier. Thanks!

Btw, tater, where do you live? That's a long time to go without power.

That is a good tip! I have always taught of scraping candle wax with something a little bit sharp but not pointed thing before. Now, I know better about hot wet rugs, they are better. Thanks!

This really is the best and only way to remove wax. Although there may be a greasy residue left once finished with the iron it will come out with a good carpet cleaner.
