Default Dirty Carpet

I have a carpet that I really like - but it is so dirty now. It is a woollen carpet - and I am at my wits end on how to get the years of grime off it.
I have tried shampooing - did not work. Any suggestions ?

I have a wool carpet too. It's really hard to clean carpets. I am always tempted to have have it washed by carpet cleaning companies. Well, that is almost always the case. It's easier that way. Haha.

But if ever I wash my carpet at home I use Woolite.

Since I don't use carpets I can't advise you from experience, but I found you a great article. It starts with you vacuuming your carpet at least 2-3 times per week. From what you have said, it seem as if you have passed that stage a long time ago so scroll down for the home remedies.
