Default Molding How to

Hello,

I am putting In carpet. I need to know how far off the ground does the molding need to be installed. I was told that the molding should be in before the carpet. Any suggestions.

Thanks
Stan

Whenever we've done any carpet replacing, we've always pulled the moulding off the wall, put the carpet in and then replaced the moulding. I've never heard that you should have it installed BEFORE putting in the carpet.
However, if you HAD to install the moulding first, how far up the wall would be dependent upon the thickness of the padding and the carpeting together.

mamab is right. I twould be extremly difficult and time consuming to lay the carpet with the moulding in place. If you are in the position of the moulding not been fitted yet, save yourself time and energy by fitting the carpet first then the moulding.
