Default Foundation Walls

Hello everyone. I hope that I've put this in the right category, and if not I apologize in advance. Someone I know will need to have a foundation wall redone in the very near future. To have this done professionally is going to run them at about $10,000. What I'm wondering is what's the easiest and most economical way to do this? My brother and father both know men who work in trade industries like welding, pipefitting, etc. Would that be an option for them?

You shoud hire someone who has experience in replacing foundation walls. You have to be careful not to make the new wall too high or too low because all your windows and doors upstairs will jamb or not work right if you move the house out of level or plumb. Remember too, the original wall failed for some reason. Was it water pressure in the ground, improper back filling, poor concrete, poor workmanship, etc? Do all you can to prevent water problems on the new wall. Some good tips can be found at http://www.b-dry.com/wet-basement-solutions.html Good luck.
